Why weeks, not months
AI-assisted evidence review, one client portal
Every SOC 2 UK engagement runs on the Praxis-Q compliance platform. You upload evidence per control, AI scores it against the requirement, and your auditor reviews in the same workflow — from scoping through to the issued, publicly verifiable certificate.
AI evidence scoring
Every upload is scored against the control before an auditor sees it — gaps surface in minutes, not at the review meeting.
One client portal
Scoping, evidence, auditor queries and status live in one place. No email chains, no spreadsheet trackers.
Auditor sign-off
Praxis-Q auditors review inside the same workflow, so review rounds shrink and the certificate issues sooner.
Why UK Organisations Pursue a US Attestation Standard
SOC 2 is issued under AICPA (American Institute of CPAs) attestation standards, but there's nothing that restricts it to US companies - the report is entirely relevant to UK organisations selling into the US market, or to any UK company whose enterprise customer base skews toward US-headquartered buyers who default to asking for SOC 2 as the recognised trust signal. Praxis-Q sees this most often with UK SaaS companies scaling into North America, where a UK-only ISO 27001 certification, while valuable, doesn't always match what a US procurement team's security questionnaire is specifically built to check for.
Type I or Type II: Matching Your Sales Cycle
A Type I report tests control design at a single point in time; a Type II report tests operating effectiveness over a review period, typically three to twelve months, and is what most sophisticated enterprise buyers eventually expect. Praxis-Q scopes UK clients into whichever fits an active deal timeline, often starting with Type I as a bridge while a Type II review period accumulates - see our Type I vs Type II comparison for the full breakdown, including how a different report entirely, SOC 1, fits in if that's what was actually requested.
Who Can Issue the Report
Only a licensed CPA firm operating under AICPA attestation standards can issue a SOC 2 report - there's no accreditation-body model like ISO 27001's UKAS structure. Praxis-Q handles the readiness work, evidence collection and control remediation, then partners with an independent CPA firm for the attestation itself, since AICPA rules require that separation regardless of where the client is based.
Sharing Evidence With UK GDPR and Cyber Essentials
SOC 2's Security Trust Services criterion covers access control, change management and incident response - the same ground UK GDPR's Article 32 technical measures and Cyber Essentials' five controls cover from different regulatory angles. Praxis-Q builds a combined evidence base for UK clients pursuing SOC 2 alongside GDPR compliance work or Cyber Essentials certification, rather than running three separate, disconnected evidence-gathering exercises for overlapping control ground.
Engagement Timeline
Gap assessment typically runs one to two weeks. A Type I report can be issued within four to eight weeks of kickoff depending on remediation needs; a Type II report requires the full review period (three to twelve months) to elapse with controls operating and evidence collected continuously before the CPA firm can test and issue the report. Praxis-Q runs the evidence-collection tooling throughout that period so the eventual audit isn't a last-minute scramble.
