SOC 2 Audit in India

SOC 2 Type 1 and Type 2 Readiness and Attestation for Indian Companies

SOC 2 readiness and attestation for Indian SaaS, BPO and technology companies. Praxis-Q runs the gap assessment, control design and evidence programme against the AICPA Trust Services Criteria; the report itself is signed by a partner US CPA firm, because only a licensed CPA firm can issue one. CISA-qualified lead, CERT-In empanelled team, and the control set is built so it also carries ISO 27001.

Who issues the certificate: Praxis-Q delivers readiness, implementation and audit support. The formal certification for SSAE 18 (SOC 1 and SOC 2) is issued by Percilchofe CPA LLC, holding Wyoming Board of Certified Public Accountants firm permit no. 1188 (current) and enrolled in the AICPA Peer Review Program (firm no. 900256001833); its Washington-state-licensed CPA performs and signs the attestation - under AICPA rules a SOC report can only be signed by a licensed CPA firm, never by a consultancy. Verify the firm permit on the Wyoming CPA Board, or read how to check a certificate is genuine.

The Problem

A US customer asks for a SOC 2 report and the deal pauses. Most Indian vendors discover at that point that no Indian firm can sign one, and that readiness takes longer than the renewal date allows.

Why weeks, not months

AI-assisted evidence review, one client portal

Every SOC 2 India engagement runs on the Praxis-Q compliance platform. You upload evidence per control, AI scores it against the requirement, and your auditor reviews in the same workflow — from scoping through to the issued, publicly verifiable certificate.

AI evidence scoring

Every upload is scored against the control before an auditor sees it — gaps surface in minutes, not at the review meeting.

One client portal

Scoping, evidence, auditor queries and status live in one place. No email chains, no spreadsheet trackers.

Auditor sign-off

Praxis-Q auditors review inside the same workflow, so review rounds shrink and the certificate issues sooner.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can an Indian firm issue a SOC 2 report?
No. A SOC 2 report is an AICPA attestation and only a licensed US CPA firm can sign one. Any Indian company offering to issue a SOC 2 certificate is describing something that does not exist. Praxis-Q delivers the readiness and control work and the report is signed by a partner US CPA firm.
Is there such a thing as SOC 2 certification?
Strictly, no. SOC 2 produces an attestation report with an auditor opinion, not a certificate. The industry says "SOC 2 certified" loosely, but what your customer receives and reads is a report.
SOC 2 Type 1 or Type 2?
Type 1 tests whether controls are suitably designed at a point in time. Type 2 tests whether they operated effectively over a period, normally three to twelve months. Customers increasingly ask for Type 2. Where a contract date is fixed and close, Type 1 first and Type 2 over the following window is the usual sequence.
How long does SOC 2 take from India?
Readiness is typically two to four months depending on existing controls. Type 2 then needs the observation window itself, most often three to six months for a first report, before fieldwork. The window is the part that cannot be compressed, which is why the start date matters more than the effort.
Do we need ISO 27001 as well?
Not necessarily, but the control sets overlap heavily. If you sell into both the US and Europe or India, building one control set and running SOC 2 attestation alongside ISO 27001 certification costs far less than treating them as two projects.
