Penetration Testing Australia
VAPT for Australian Enterprises, Government Suppliers & Fintech - APRA, IRAP & Essential Eight Aligned
Praxis-Q delivers penetration testing and VAPT for Australian organisations - web apps, APIs, cloud, internal and external networks and mobile. Testing follows the OWASP Testing Guide and PTES and produces evidence for APRA CPS 234 control testing, IRAP assessment preparation, and Essential Eight Maturity Level validation, with a remediation-ready report and free re-test.

Why weeks, not months
AI-assisted evidence review, one client portal
Every Pen Testing Australia engagement runs on the Praxis-Q compliance platform. You upload evidence per control, AI scores it against the requirement, and your auditor reviews in the same workflow — from scoping through to the issued, publicly verifiable certificate.
AI evidence scoring
Every upload is scored against the control before an auditor sees it — gaps surface in minutes, not at the review meeting.
One client portal
Scoping, evidence, auditor queries and status live in one place. No email chains, no spreadsheet trackers.
Auditor sign-off
Praxis-Q auditors review inside the same workflow, so review rounds shrink and the certificate issues sooner.
VAPT in Australia - Scope and Methodology
Vulnerability assessment establishes breadth, penetration testing establishes what an attacker can actually do with it, and Australian organisations generally need both to satisfy an auditor or an enterprise customer. Praxis-Q scopes VAPT across the external perimeter, the internal network, web applications and APIs, cloud environments and mobile applications, working to the OWASP Testing Guide and PTES. Automated scanning establishes coverage; manual testing establishes exploitability, chained attack paths and business-logic flaws that scanners do not find. Each finding is issued with reproduction steps, evidence, CVSS severity, business impact in your context, and a remediation action a specific team can own. Testing windows are agreed to avoid production disruption, and retesting of remediated findings is part of the engagement rather than a separate purchase.
API Penetration Testing
APIs are where most Australian SaaS and financial services breaches now originate, and they are systematically under-tested because a web application scan does not exercise them. Praxis-Q tests REST, GraphQL and SOAP interfaces against the OWASP API Security Top 10: broken object-level authorisation, broken authentication, excessive data exposure, missing rate limiting, broken function-level authorisation, mass assignment and server-side request forgery. Testing is driven from your specification where one exists and from traffic capture where it does not, covering authenticated and unauthenticated paths and each role in your permission model. Object-level authorisation flaws - one customer reading another customer’s records by changing an identifier - are the single most common critical finding and are invisible to perimeter scanning.
Cloud Penetration Testing - AWS, Azure and GCP
Cloud testing has two halves and most engagements only deliver one. Configuration review assesses the control plane - IAM roles and trust policies, privilege escalation paths, public storage, network segmentation, logging coverage, key management - against CIS Benchmarks and provider guidance. Penetration testing then assesses what is reachable and exploitable in the workloads themselves. Praxis-Q does both, and tests the path that matters most in practice: an attacker who obtains a low-privilege foothold and escalates through misconfigured roles into the rest of the account. Testing observes AWS, Azure and GCP customer testing policies, and we handle notification where the provider requires it.
APRA CPS 234 Control-Testing Evidence
APRA Prudential Standard CPS 234 requires regulated entities to systematically test the effectiveness of their information security controls, to test with a frequency proportionate to the rate of change and the criticality of the assets, and to have that testing reviewed by appropriately skilled and independent specialists. In practice APRA-regulated entities are asked to show not just that a test happened but that its scope covered material assets and that findings were remediated. Praxis-Q scopes testing against your information asset classification, and structures reports so each result maps to the CPS 234 obligation it evidences - scope rationale, independence, findings, remediation status and retest outcome - so the report is usable directly in your own reporting to the board and to APRA.
Essential Eight, ISM and IRAP-Aligned Testing
Australian government suppliers and their partners are measured against the ACSC Essential Eight maturity model and the Information Security Manual. Praxis-Q assesses Essential Eight maturity - application control, patching applications, configuring Office macros, user application hardening, restricting administrative privileges, patching operating systems, multi-factor authentication and regular backups - and reports maturity level per mitigation with the gap to the next level. Testing and reporting are aligned to ISM controls so the evidence sits alongside an IRAP assessment rather than duplicating it. Praxis-Q is an independent testing provider, not an IRAP-endorsed assessor: we produce the technical evidence an IRAP assessment consumes, and work alongside your assessor.
Reporting, Remediation and Retesting
Every engagement delivers a technical report with reproducible findings and an executive summary a board or a customer’s security team can read. Findings are prioritised by exploitability and business impact rather than raw CVSS, because a medium-severity flaw on an internet-facing authentication path outranks a high-severity one behind three controls. Remediation guidance is specific to your stack. Retesting confirms closure and produces a clean-status letter suitable for enterprise procurement, tender submissions and OAIC-facing evidence of reasonable steps under the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme. Assessors hold CISA, CEH and ISO 27001 Lead Auditor credentials and engagements are delivered remote-first.
